Well, this is –probably- my last post in this blog. In general, I think the experience of write in a blog was an interesting and funny exercise to share with my classmates some things of my life and my interests, in line with we made comments for these. I really feel I learnt so much in writing skills, mainly about vocabulary, use of auxiliaries and grammar. Also I could review in areas such as the conjugation of the verbs and the right form to do sentences in past, present and future. In fact, I have mixed a lot of it in this paragraph, in this post.
In future I would like to include more interactive activities, such as a video presentation or the building of a web page, for example. I think these interactive exercises are the best form to learn a language quickly and easily.

Finally, I would like to write about my city: Punta Arenas. This is a cold city in the south of Chile. Really, I think Punta Arenas is a boring city, but it is a nice city with many tourist attractions, e.g. six hour trip is the natural park “Torres del Paine”. I hope someday you may know this. Bye !

Twin Towers.

2001. September 11 when a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda upon the United States in New York City and Washington DC. Four passenger airplanes were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks.
Two of those planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon (the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense).
The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was targeted at Washington, D.C. but crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Osama bin Laden's declaration of a holy war against the United States, In bin Laden's November 2002 "Letter to America", he explicitly stated that al-Qaeda's motives for the attacks: Support for the "attacks against Muslims" in Somalia, Russian "atrocities against Muslims" in Chechnya, Indian "oppression against Muslims" in Kashmir, the presence of U.S.A troops in Saudi Arabia and, finally, United States support to Israel.

Max Weber

Max Weber was a German philosopher, economist and sociologist considered one of the most important thinkers in Public Administration, and one of the founders.
Weber published an extensive bibliography about the institutions. He gave them the name of bureaucracy and designated the 20th century such as the bureaucracy century.
Weber’s main contributions to Public Administration were: firstly, the term bureaucracy and the bureaucratic model; secondly, the classification of kind of authorities.
The term bureaucracy means the administrative and personnel structure of an organization. Weber also showed the basic rules of a bureaucratic model: chain of command, paid staff, appointment regarding merits, etc.
In the classification of authorities, Weber shows three kinds: traditional authority (power derived from the habit), charismatic authority (power derived from his personality) and legal, rational or bureaucratic authority (power derived from the rules).

These contributions are studied to date; these are the importance now days too. I found out Weber because I studied his importance in some classes like administrative theory, organizations theory and introduction to the study of government.

My favourite piece of technology

Today, I’m going to write about the smartphones. The smartphones are one of the most popular inventions of the 21st century.
I got my first smartphone in 2010, in November, when my father gave me a new cell phone: IT WAS AN IPHONE 4!! I couldn’t believe it, the Iphone 4 was released in October and, a month after its launch, was in Chile.
I use an smartphone, mainly, to be always connected with my friends (in Facebook or Whatsapp, for example) and with the world and the news, reading different newspapers around the world (like BBC, New York Times, El País) and the Chilean newspapers (La Tercera, mainly).
I consider myself a tech addict; I can’t stay 15 minutes without checking my cell, and this is a serious problem of dependence
L
I like the smartphones because this object allows you to stay connected all the time in the social networks, in a life without smartphones we would be dependent of phone calls and its limitations ($$$$).

My worst mark this semester.

Well readers, today I’m going to speak about my worst experience this semester.
The last week, I had to do a test of microeconomics. I had no time to study the days before the test (Tuesday), and then I must study the Monday. This day at night, I began to read the chapters of the book that developed the test subjects but, to my bad luck, I fell asleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I woke up at 11 o’clock, and my test was at 2:30. I took all my strength and tried to study all the subjects, but I couldn’t do it. Then, I came to the University and did the test anyway. I thought I answered well but, when the teacher delivered the tests days ago, my mark was terrible!
This day, I learned something I will never forget: Never study the day before the test L

P.S: Two days before the test, I saw in my dreams rats! My mother said this is a bad omen. Now I think she was right.

Marcelo 'Matador' Salas

José Marcelo Salas Melinao, called by his Chilean fans 'Matador' and Argentinian fans 'Shileno', is one of the most important football player in the history of the sport in Chile and played as a striker. Marcelo Salas was born on December the 24th of 1974, in the southern city of Temuco.

He plays in different teams in Chile, Argentina and Italy.
In Chile he played for the Universidad de Chile football team in two times, between 1993-1996 and 2005-2008. He scored 87 goals for Universidad de Chile and, today, is one of the most important idols of this football clubs.
After his first term in Chile, Marcelo traveled to Argentina, where he played in River Plate club (the football team with more trophies of the local competition). In this team, he played in two times too, between 1996-1998 and 2003-2005. He scored 34 goals in River Plate, where he was also considered an idol.
Finally, the 'Matador' traveled to Europe, specifically to Italy, where he plays in two teams: Lazio of Rome and Juventus, of Turín. At this stage of his life, Marcelo won the European Winners Cup and the European Super Cup, maybe the most important trophies in his career.

Finally, I tell them the truth. I chose Marcelo Salas because, for me, is the best Chilean player of all time :)

Democracy

Hello readers ! Today I come to write about the Concept of democracy.
The name democracy comes from the Greek word demokratia, means “government of the people” (demos, “people” and kratos, “power”).
Democracy is a government form, therefore like any government form, exist submission of all the citizens to a political authority and a coercive power. The thing differentiate democracy of the government form is that, in democracy, the authority and the power are in the people and they practice the power (demos). In a democracy, the people govern themselves and, through the law were imposing themselves.
Again the old tyrannies, absolute monarchies or other authoritarian government forms, in democracy, the people are sovereign.
However, to practice the power with efficacy, operability and diligence, the people choose, regularity, representatives in the different spaces composed them system. Also, the people choose a voting system that guarantied the liberty and the confidentiality of the vote for your leaders.
This is the most important feature in a democratic system. At present, a big majority of the countries in the world use democracy like his government form.

I hope you liked this article, bye ;)

My favourite picture.

Well, today I write about (one of) my favourite picture. This picture is a portrait of Kurt Cobain. He was an American musician who plays in a band called Nirvana. In 1994, Kurt Cobain was found dead at home in Seattle. When Cobain died, he was 27 years old. He was depressive and cocaine addict, but one of the most important singers in the last quarter of XX century.

This picture was taken by a famous photographer, called Mark Seliger. The story told that two months after this photo was taken, Kurt Cobain die. At first, this picture was taken for the Rolling Stone magazine, where they promoted the Nirvana’s story, in the moment they released the album “In utero”. The photo was taken by a Polaroid (an instant camera). After Cobain died, the photo made the cover of the magazine too, but now on an article about the memory of the singer, composer and guitar player… the legacy of the artist Cobain.

Chile in the Olympics.

Hi friends !! Today I come to write about the Olympics Games. The Olympics Games is a party of sports, when the athletes are bring together to fight for the medals of the victory. The first Olympics Games (modern Olympics, because in antiquety had Olympics too) took place in Athens, Greece in 1896. This place was chose because the old Olympics Games (in the antiquety) was in this city, a city with a long history.
In my life, I have seen four Olympics Games, but in this post I write about two of these specifically:
-First, the Olympics Games of Sydney in 2000. The event I remember most is about Chile. In this Olympics Games Chile got the bronze medal in football. The special feature was Chile winning the bronze medal match against France, the current world champion in this sport.
- After, I saw the Olympics Games of Athens (second time the Olimpycs was in Athens) in 2004. In this Olympics, Chile won three gold medals but, this time, in Tennis. Fernando Gonzalez and Nicolás Massu won the doubles final against Germany, and Massu won the single final. Also, Gonzalez won the bronze medal match in a very long day, the same day he played the doubles final.
Bye :)

Hi !
In March of this year, I began a new semester in the university. This semester I’d study six subjects: administrative theory, theory of sciences, administrative law, applied statistics, microeconomics and English III. This semester I couldn’t take an extracurricular subject, because the schedule doesn’t allow me. But, if I could take an extracurricular subject, I’d take a general formation class, called “Football, more than passion”.
My expectations for this new academic period are:
·         Not fail any of my classes.
·          Get more than a five in my finals marks.

Well, this new semester just began. I give the best of myself to obtain the results I want to this period. ;)
